Not having television, I get most of my news from the net. The problem is, there's a lot of news available, much more than anyone would reasonably expect to have time for. One of the best sites to help distill this flood of information is Markos Weskamp's Newsmap.
Newsmap uses a Treemap data format, according to the Periodic Table of Data Visualization. You can simply and quickly see what all the latest news is, how important a story is, and then easily drill down to see full details.
