Those clever Japanese are at it again. This time, they're using math to help find the most beautiful woman in Italy.
If you select a random woman, and ask her to introduce you to their most beautiful friend, then have that woman introduce you to her most beautiful friend, at each step up the rung you will get a more beautiful woman. By factoring the population of Italy against the number of people the average person knows, they calculated that 12 steps were necessary to get to the top tier.
I was skeptical, but the results speak for themselves. Frankly, they had me at step 2. This is a wonderful, compelling video. I wonder how many steps we'd need to find the most beautiful woman on Whidbey? Anybody up for finding out?
