Today we went to see Juno, a delightful little film that is taking the nation by storm. The screenplay is the real feature here, complemented by a bravura performance by pixie Ellen Page as the title character. Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner are also great as the potential adoptive parents.
There isn't any bad acting in the movie, and the cinematography is restrained, a feature I appreciate after my experience with Atonement. The movie is sentimental without being sappy, and the language and attitudes of the characters are rich. I really liked the film. No review would be complete without mentioning the amazing soundtrack. Full of funky folk music, the mood-setting music is a joy unto itself.
Movies on Whidbey Island.
