We often look up the reviews for a movie before we go see it. Rotten Tomatoes is a great site, kind of a professional critic's aggregator. Usually if a movie has less than positive reviews, we pass. The movie we went to today, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, got 3% positive reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.
3% is pretty impressive, in a way. I mean, how bad must a movie be to get such universally bad reviews? Intrigued, we read the (only) positive review, and it basically said: This is a fun movie, and if don't expect too much, you probably won't hate it when you leave the theatre.
Well, bring it on! Rene and I love a challenge, and we wanted to see a movie today, but couldn't decide which one. In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale it is. And, I can honestly say we not only didn't hate it, we actually liked it. It's a good fantasy movie, it doesn't get bogged down with explanations or exposition. It's well acted, nicely shot, and, while requiring a modicum of suspension of disbelief, fairly believable on it's surface.
Movies on Whidbey Island.
