Currency Accepted at Rockhoppers

I thought it might be a good idea to post what types of payment we accept here at Rockhoppers. We get a fair amount of international travelers, and we want to be inclusive here. Of course, we take US currency. Cash is always welcome.

We often get asked if we accept credit cards, despite having a sign on the door that says Visa/ MC. Yes, we take credit cards. I can't imagine having a business that doesn't take credit cards. We also will take your debit card, although if the amount is under $20, you have to specify that you want a debit transaction. That's because it's cheaper for us to run your card as credit than it is to run it as debit, unless you're charging more than $20.

We would like to accept Canadian money, at par, particularly since it's doing so well against the dollar. Canadian money seems like it might be a better currency than ours. The problem is that our bank makes it very complex to deal with Canadian money. So no Canadian money for now.

We also don't take traveler's checks. We hear too many horror stories about them, and have no experience using them ourselves. Sorry.

We do, however, take Quid. Quid is a new currency, just announced by Travelex. Rockhoppers welcomes aliens and space travelers, and accepts your currency. The bank doesn't know what to do with it, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. So, bring in your Quid, it's good here.

Bring your money to Whidbey Island.
