Musical Interlude

Maynard Ferguson was always a favorite of mine. His trumpet playing was unparalleled, and the 70's were his best period. This live version of Gospel John rivals the album version, and Maynard spends nearly a minute introducing the piece. He also rocks a nice Euphonium in this piece. Enjoy!

Funny you should post that. I just got my dad a cd of Stan Kenton's greatest hits. As talented as Fergusen was, I've always been kinda put off by his balloon-squeaking style. He had enough talent without having to do that.

Also got Dad a double cd set of Les Elgart. "Moonlight Shuffle" was one of my childhood favorites.

Aside from that, I saw Miles Davis in the early 80's and was blown away, both by his bizarre presence and his amazingly tight band.
