Kung-Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda

It's been a while since I've done a movie review -- hope I can remember how. :) I went to see Kung-Fu Panda with a very discriminating movie-goer: my 3-year old grandson. It was his first theater experience, and I'm glad we were at The Clyde. Most of Kung-Fu Panda has a lot of action, and he really enjoyed that, but there was a lot of exposition, and (unsurprisingly) that portion failed to hold his interest. Kung Fu Panda

The voice acting was great, and the animation was very good, but I felt the story was too philosophical, without a good resolution of the central problem. There's a couple nice fun montage scenes, but it's never a good sign when multiple montages are necessary to advance the storyline. The main objective of the characters is an ancient scroll, and I can safely say that the big reveal of the scroll itself is quite a letdown.

Still, it's a good movie, well worth seeing. I give it a Single Shot, and Chet gives the action scenes a double shot, for sure. Single Shot

Movies on Whidbey Island.
