Today on Read This! I'm featuring an interesting compilation of pictures. Printed in 1938, They Still Draw Pictures is a simple collection of drawings by children who were living through the Spanish Civil War. The drawings, collected together, deliver a powerful message about the role of visual imagery in children's lives, and the effects of war.
Sometimes chilling, sometimes banal, the drawings are most interesting as a collection -- individually they don't have the same effect. Presented With a foreword by one of my favorite authors, Aldus Huxley.
So go, look through children's eyes again, and enjoy!
