Many people consider comics a childish, un-serious communication medium. They couldn't be more wrong. By distilling the essence of a paragraph to a few words and a small drawing, comics can present a powerful imprint of a situation.
Today's comic is a departure from my usual light-hearted humor comics. A comic artist has illustrated the rescue effort of the May 12 earthquake in China. The resulting series is extremely moving, and shows the power of the comic format in an almost disturbing way.
Find yourself a box of tissues, then read Coco Wang's 5.12 Earthquake Strips.
Comics on Whidbey Island.
