The Life and Times of the Chaos Queen

Pack Rat

So, as Rene can attest, my house has what I call 'comfortable clutter'. Others might beg to differ and call it a disaster area. However, in spite of the apparent disorganization, I can usually find what I'm looking for. Except today. Cell Phones

I have a box with a couple of old cell phones (who doesn't these days?), I wanted to send one to my daughter to have in case she lost hers. As with many young people these days, she has no landline at her apartment, only her cell phone. I got a call in the wee hours of the morning last weekend. "Mom, I lost my cell phone!" She found it a short time later and called back again to let me know, but I figured since I was putting together a box to send to her, I might as well include one of the old phones. That way, if she truly did lose her cell phone and couldn't find it again, she'd have a phone to use until she could get a new one. (Heaven forbid she should have a phone that can't do internet, etc.!) Boxes

Which leads me to the topic of my post. Can I find that box?? of course not. It will surely show it's face as soon as the sitck-em has settled into place on the box I'm sending. Boxes

I can feel it coming... I will soon go on a ruthless rampage and clear out some of the crap, excuse me, valuable objects, that I have stored in various places about the house. Surprisingly enough, even die-hard packrats have to do that from time to time. My problem is that when the mood strikes me, I have no idea how long it will last. A day, an hour, a week, even.Sometimes I get started and I'll fill a trash bag full and then I'll pick something up, look it it, pause...'I remember when...' and then it's all over. I might as well go upstairs and read, because I'll not get a single thing tossed after that point. Of course, to make matters worse, I'm almost the opposite at work. I have a toolbox, and all the tools have a specific place, and the small boxes go into the big one in a specific order, mainly because everything fits and the tops latches only if it's in just right. I get a little bent out of shape if people use my tools and don't put them back where they belong. I'm sure someone, somewhere has a scientific label for the traits I display, but I'm happy with the label 'Chaos Queen'.

Editors note: Why yes, that is a pack rat at the top of this post. This is what happens when you leave it up to the editor to pick photos for your post. :)

Thanks, Dan! I'm still figuring out how to get what I write in between the funny little p's in brackets! You'll notice I DID figure out how to make it bold!
