Comic Tuesday

Today's comic is an epic: Irregular Webcomic. There are over 1800 strips in the series, and multiple storylines. The author, David Morgan-Mar, is a highly creative person who doesn't draw. To make up for that, he uses Lego miniatures to illustrate all his stories.

I'm reading the archives, so far I'm about 1/2 way through. There are a lot of storylines: Cliffhangers; Death; Espionage; Fantasy; Harry Potter; Imperial Rome; Martians; Mythbusters; Nigerian Finance Minister; Pirates; Shakespeare; Space; Star Wars; Steve and Terry; Supers; and Miscellaneous. Here's the entire cast list, with a link to each and crossover information.

My favorite characters are Death, who keeps being re-assigned, and Draak, who is apparently a PhD in his own language, but comes across as illiterate otherwise.

The site navigation is unique, you can stick with one storyline, or read them all sequentially, either one-at-a-time or five-at-a-time. The stories have lots of puns, and are generally very clever and funny. David includes comments about his creative process, and there's a forum and other features on the site. I'm really enjoying reading Irregular Webcomic, and I hope you will, too.
