Charlie Wilson's War is a very interesting movie. The movie is a docu-drama of the political actions behind the United States support of Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion of that country. The protaganist, Congressman Charlie Wilson, is a stereotypical playboy, whose political savvy is constantly underestimated by his opponents. Surrounded and ably assisted by his staff of aides, made up entirely of beautiful young women, Congressman Wilson becomes the driving force for the United States covert support of the Afghan freedom fighters.
With the cast including Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, there can be no doubt that the movie is a showcase of excellent acting. It's also an intelligent script, well-shot, and edited. I'm looking forward to the DVD because I'd like to know more.
Movies on Whidbey Island.
