What a wonderful Day!

I dont know if it is the idea that we are going to be going on vacation starting tomorrow, or if it is just the beautiful weather, or if it was just a wonderful day off yesterday, but I cant help but notice how beautiful it is today! So let's start off this blog with posting July's calendar.

Now let me point out a few special days for Rockhoppers this month! First... Rockhoppers will be closed July 3rd and 4th to celebrate the Fourth of July festivities. We will see you in Freeland for the fireworks! Also, The 5th of July we will close early at 8PM. We will resume regular business hours on Friday July 6th. Dan and I will be out of the shop on vacation the 5th through the 7th but the shop will but the shop will be well represented by Michael, Nikki and Mary.

The next thing (BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND) we will be holding a Breakfast! These breakfasts will become regular events to be served every 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings. Keep this in mind. Our menu is going to be the same since we are only serving it two times a month. The menu is: egg strata, fruit, yogurt, a muffin and juice or coffee. The cost for this breakfast is $10.00 per person.

Now to REALLY freak you out... Rockhoppers will also be serving a special dinner on July 18th. This dinner will be a regular event too. This month's menu is a Greek Salmon dinner with a ceasar salad, smoked salmon corn chowder, a mini loaf of bread, corn souffle, and dessert will be tirumisu. Cost for this dinner is $20.00 and it is by reservations only. Entertainment for this dinner will be provided by Alyssa Ingersol. You can check out her videos here on the blog. There will be limited dinners for this event so Reserve a seat early!

The other thing to note is the extraordinary music we are having at Rockhoppers! Not only is our Open Mic turning out to be an incredible evening of every kind of entertainment, but our Saturdays are getting booked for acts into September! This coming Saturday Rockhoppers is very Pleased to announce that SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES will be coming to entertain us. This is an incredible group with some awesome musicians. Swords into Plowshares features Keith Allen Bowers on guitar and mandolin; Ed Newkirk with bluesy slide resonator; David Schaal, rhythm guitar and lead vocals; and Kristi O'Donnell on stand-up bass and vocals. Kristi also shares her Whidbey inspired stories and poetry. Come on in for a toe-tappin' island good time.

Now, let me see... Oh yes, This month we will be the home to a wonderful Doll Art exhibit. We have 6 doll artists from all over the Puget Sound who will be displaying their work. Come check them out. The doll exhibit closes on July 30th.

Our "Gotta Act" group has started and we are exploring characters and personalities as well as settings under the excellent direction of L Bennett Nolen. L spent many years in live theater in New York and Seattle and has extensive experience in directing. She has some wonderful things planned for our small group. If you are interested there is still a few places open for you to join us. Just give us a call at Rockhoppers so we can get you signed up.

Hi, Rene,
I'll be bringing my sis and her husband in with THE GREAT HEADBOARD they've found for you to decorate. Fortunately, they're coming to the island on July 8, after you're back from vacation. Can't wait to see the doll show.
