Musical Interlude

Rare Earth is seriously under-represented on Youtube as far as videos go. There's a fair amount of audio recordings, but the band was unfortunately rarely filmed professionally. It's a shame, because they remain one of the best early 70's bands.

This cover of the Beatle's Eleanor Rigby easily surpasses the original, infusing it with soul. Ecology was the first record album I ever owned, given to me by my much older cousin Richard. Thanks, Richard, for starting me out right with Rock and Roll!

Comic Tuesday

This week's comic is updated less often, and far more cerebral than most of my selections. Stuart McMillen posts comics that are examine our nature, appeal for change, and espouse responsible use of our environment. His drawings are simple yet evocative, and quite thoughtful. Enjoy Recombinant Records here.

Thought for the Week

One reason why birds and horses are happy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.

Musical Interlude

Great song from The Decemberists. Really powerful ballad, excellent 'home' recording. Watch for the drummer knocking stuff off the mantle!
